2012 BlackBerry Roadmap BBX Phones and More

AppId is over the quota AppId is over the quota

Kevin over at CrackBerry posted an interest post this morning about suspected phones for 2012 as well as the 10? PlayBook.  There are no leaked images, or concrete specs, but insight on form factor and estimated release months.

We have all see the leaked BlackBerry London, but now we have more code names to go by Lisbon, Milan, Nevada, and Black Forest. The Milan has the same release time as the London, so it might be a CDMA version of the London or vice-versa. The code names internally are very close with London being R072 and the Milan R071.

There is no info on the Lisbon, could it be a BBX slider? I know that if it had the form factor of the Droid 3 and be a landscape slider I would be pleased. That keyboard is a dream, and spacious… compare to the Torch form factor of now.

The Nevada is suspected to have the classic form factory of BlackBerrys with the trademark QWERTY keypad and a form factor similar to the 9900. It would be nice as Kevin said, to see a slightly bigger screen to take advantage of BBX/QNX fluidity. But unfortunately this one isn’t scheduled to really be released until the Fall.

And finally the Black Forest, this one is thought to be the 10? PlayBook. RIM has made it clear that even with their struggles with the current PlayBook, that they are completely dedicated to the tablet market. It is also suspected to be 4G ready when released as well.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out and hopefully we can see one or more these at the upcoming CES show.

BlackBerry PlayBook Dingleberry Root Exploit Scheduled to be Released Today

 DingleBerry release tweet

Don let me know that Chris Wade posted on his Twitter account that he plans on releasing the Dingleberry PlayBook root exploit today. Just as a reminder this is the same root exploit (aka Jailbreak) we have been hearing about for awhile so it should be interesting to see what comes of it. I am not as excited about the security as I am about the ability to poke around the PlayBook OS 2.0 beta and see what we can find under the covers. Devs have never really been allowed to poke around in the core OS of any BlackBerry device so this should be interesting…

Stay tuned for the update on http://www.dingleberry.it/

Drunk RIM Execs Ground Air Canada Flight to Bejing

 Thanksgiving-classic

You have to love the stuff that gets into the news nowadays. This is not really something we would usually cover but hey its worth a good laugh. It turns out that George Campbell (45) of Conestogo, Ontario and Paul Alexander Wilson (38) of Kitchener proceeded to get crazy drunk on an Air Canada flight from Toronto to Beijing. The flight had to make a stop in Vancouver with its 314 passengers just to get these drunk RIM execs off the plane. They were actually north of Alaska at the time and turned back to get these execs off the plane. They had to forcibly restrain the two men, who were simply unruly not fighting, for over 3 hours.

Both men pleaded guilty to one charge of mischief (I guess that means drunk and disorderly in Canada?) and were given one year probation. Even more so they were ordered to pay Air Canada $35,878 each and are barred from contacting any Air Canada crews or flying the airline for that same year.

Crazy stuff… Now if only The Star would mention if they were carrying any prototype BlackBerry BBX phones… So far RIM has responded by saying that:

"Based on the limited information available at this time, RIM has suspended the individuals involved pending further investigation."

eBay for BlackBerry v2.0 Comes Out of Beta

 ebay bb 2.0 ebay bb 2.0 2

Just before the weekend RIM finally brought their eBay for BlackBerry app out of the Beta Zone and on to App World. RIM introduced this new version of eBay for BlackBerry in September with BlackBerry OS 7.0 support, selling features, and more. It adds the ability to post your winnings on BBM along with sharing your listings and better searching. It went through a few updates in App World over the months and is now up for anybody to grab in App World. Users in App World reviews seem to be complaining that the previous version did many things better but hopefully that is resolved by RIM with bug fix updates.

You can pick up version 2.0 of eBay for BlackBerry in App World
